On moving…

Tuesday we close on our house here in Lake Ariel. It will be a sad day and I will try very hard not to cry as I sign the papers at the closing. We have really grown to love this house and our neighbors. Our house here in Lake Ariel is a big house, with 2 enclosed porches and 1 open porch, 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, huge kitchen, nice size living room, a ginormous unfinished basement, and a 1 car detached garage, all on a little over 1 acre. The new house in Vandling is quite smaller with 1 small open porch in the front and a back patio, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a nice sized kitchen, a nice sized living room, a large unfinished basement, a storage attic, and a 2 car attached garage, on about 3/4 of an acre. We will only be about 25 minutes away from our current neighbors and will keep in touch with/visit with them often (’cause their our friends and not just our neighbors), but we’re still sad they won’t be our neighbors anymore. Turns out we won’t be able to move into the new house for a couple of weeks, so we’ll be renting this house from the new owners until then. It breaks our hearts. Having to rent the house we used to own. I wish we could just move on as soon as we close on it.

We are downsizing/moving because the new mortgage will be much more affordable and we are tired of being in debt just so we can have a ~great big super nice house with wrap around porches~ to be proud of. We’d rather have a smaller (but also very nice) house and not be in debt (with the exception of the smaller mortgage) and live within our means. I hope our new neighbors are super nice…and friendly…and socialable.

I am very sad.
