Happy Valentine’s Day! and other things on my mind.

This kids and I exchanged vintage valentines (found free, online from various sources, then printed on cardstock). Sometime, in the very near future, I need to post photos of: Molly’s birthday, my Tangled Yoke Cardigan, Mina’s progress on her (xxs) February Lady Sweater, and… I think that’s it. Maybe some spinning pics if I get around to it.

I’m feeling like it’s time to get more serious about moving. We’d like a larger piece of property, and hopefully a closer knit community than where we’re at now. Also, Sarah’s friend’s dog (a beautiful, smart, chocolate lab) had puppies and we’re considering purchasing one of them. (Probably a black female, or maybe a white one, I’d have to meet them first. I really wanted a chocolate lab, but all the chocolate ones are male, and I want a female dog. I don’t know why. I’m just rolling with my gut feelings here.)

Oh, and I’m going to take the plunge and order seeds for my garden on Monday. I may have to go smaller and container garden (so I can bring them with us) if it doesn’t look like we’ll be moved by spring planting. We’ll see. The company I’m planning to order from says their seeds are good for a few years, so if I don’t use them all this year, I’ll use them next year. This will be my first year vegetable gardening (I’ve had small flower gardens in the past, but that’s it), so I’ll be on a learning curve. I’ve been reading all winter (I’ve acquired a decent gardening/homesteading library), which I know is not the same as doing, but, got to start somewhere. I wonder what the neighbors would think if we got some chickens?

Lots of great plans! I haven’t started a vegetable garden (I am a self proclaimed black thumb), but want to try this year as well.

And a new puppy! *sigh* … sounds wonderful…

  2. Labs are great family dogs, and like you I have a preference for females too. Good luck if you choose one.

I’ve been veggie gardening for so long, it is second nature to me. If you have any questions, drop me a line and if I can help I will surely try. But if you do get chickens, don’t turn them loose near your garden until you are done picking your produce. Chickens will destroy a garden in two shakes of a lamb’s tail! Been there, learned the hard way! LOL Hope you find that “better” home soon. :)
