Nope, it’s still not finished…

Tangled Yoke Cardigan

Well, obviously, I didn’t meet my goal of finishing Tangled Yoke by January 12th. Oh well! I’m almost finished with the cabled section – I plan on finishing the cables and the short rows tonight, so, very soon (I’m hoping this weekend) it will be finished. Then, on to sweaters for the little ones. I’m considering casting on a pair of socks for mindless TV knitting, depends on what patterns the kid’s pick for their sweaters. I really want to finish the kid’s sweaters before the end of February. Since it often stays chilly here (in the evenings & at night) through the end of May to mid-June, they’ll still get lots of use out of them this season. If I size them a just bit larger than their actual sizes, then hopefully they’ll still fit them all come autumn.

Learning from my mistake….

Yesterday, I accidentally felted some raw fleece that I was washing. I had it in my washing machine, and was on the last rinse, I pushed the fleece to the side, I turned the hot water on, and then I went to go read some blogs for a couple of minutes…..and forgot about the fleece….until I heard the machine agitating. I ran out to the garage, but too late. I’m upset with myself – it was a good third of a really lovely fleece. Next time I’ll either take the fleece out and bring it in the warm house ’til the machine is filled or I’ll stand there and wait while the machine fills. Even if it is freezing in the garage (where the washer and dryer are).

The sleeves are joined…

and I’m about an inch into the yoke. My goal is to finish this sweater by next Monday (the 12th).

Happy Birthday to me!

My birthday was January 3rd.
We went out to dinner at Cracker Barrel and then to the book store to browse around.

Anne Crochet Scarf

It’s the Anne Crochet Lace Scarf. It’s just one of many handmade Christmas gifts. Most of which will have to be blogged about after Christmas since my kids have been known to read my blog.

Coffee Can Experiments

Back in November, the girls did a coffee can experiment
(from the book Coffee Can Science).

They learned how sound vibrates on the string and echoes into the can. (Nylon cord worked better than cotton cord due to the cotton cord being softer and absorbing the vibrations.)

Mina has a written a mystery book and is typing it up on the computer (and she has another one already in the drafting phase).
